Day 26 "You Are Redeemed"
Beautiful Redeeming Love
Good Morning Beauties!
“Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, because he has come to his people and redeemed them.” Luke 1:68 NIV
As we move on to our next attribute, REDEEMED, let’s really press in to the truth of what Jesus has actually done for us. What is your understanding of redemption? Is this a familiar word? When talking with a non-Christian, is it easier to talk about being saved than redeemed? Selah.
It helps me to look at definitions from several resources to get a full understanding of words. Let’s look at a few definitions of the word redeem:
Oxford Dictionary - “gain or regain possession of (something) in exchange for payment.”
Merriam-Webster - “to free from what distresses or harms: such as: to free from captivity by payment of ransom.”
Websters 1828 - “To purchase back; to ransom; to liberate or rescue from captivity or bondage, or from any obligation or liability to suffer or to be forfeited.”
The Hebrew word for redeem is Ga’al, which means to buy back, ransom, or rescue, often in a relationship-based context like a kinsman-redeemer.”
What stood out to you in these definitions? Did the Holy Spirit show you something new? How would you explain redemption to those you lead? Selah.
“‘Pay attention, O Jacob, for you are my servant, O Israel. I, the Lord, made you, and I will not forget you. I have swept away your sins like a cloud. I have scattered your offenses like the morning mist. Oh, return to me, for I have paid the price to set you free.’ Sing, O heavens, for the Lord has done this wondrous thing. Shout for joy, O depths of the earth! Break into song, O mountains and forests and every tree! For the Lord has redeemed Jacob and is glorified in Israel.” Isaiah 44:21-23 NLT
Beauties, we have much to celebrate!! Our beloved Jesus is calling us close, calling us into greater intimacy with Him. You may not feel worthy of His presence, but His redeeming love has paid the price for your sins and has swept them away. Hallelujah! Let this truth wash over you as you shout for joy and praise Him Today!
