Good Morning Beauties!

Joy - it’s our fuel needed everyday to strengthen us as we step foot in the world. Joy brings freedom, peace, comfort, confidence. How is your joy today? Rate it on a scale of 1-10. Why did you give it this rating? Selah.

I remember a time when I had tremendous growth with Jesus. It was a sweet sweet time of intimacy with my Lord and Savior. Every morning, coffee in hand, I walked up the stairs and had a choice. I could turn right and go in my bedroom to worship God and read my Bible. I could also choose to turn left and walk into our guest bedroom and watch a little TV, mostly news, before taking a shower and going to work. Every single morning, I felt a strong pull in both directions. Would I meet with Jesus, my best friend, where he would provide strength, renewal, and refreshment for the day, or would I fill my mind and spirit with the troubles and evil of this world?

Every morning I had a choice. I could choose joy and light, or I could choose depression and darkness. I have to admit, when I was feeling rather blue on some days, I turned to the left and ended up feeling even worse. In our weakness, we can’t depend on our strength to “turn right.” We must reach out to Jesus and pray he provides the strength to reject the enemy and the destruction he brings.

We all have hardships that can easily derail us from living the abundant life Jesus died to give us. Even Apostle Paul had a “thorn in his side” to contend with everyday. “Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time he said, ‘My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.’ So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.” 2 Corinthians 12:8-9 New Living Translation

Paul had a choice. He could let his affliction defeat him, or he could “turn right” and choose joy in the Lord. What can you define as your affliction? Spend time with God as he reveals truth about it and pray he helps you to choose joy instead of despair.

Day 13 "Grace Has Brought You Peace"

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—  not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9 (NIV)

This truth should allow perfect peace to flood our hearts. We have been saved by the amazing gift of grace! We absolutely do not have to work for it - our salvation was paid by Jesus - HIS work was enough.

We accept our salvation through grace, so why do we have such a difficult time accepting the daily grace Jesus gives? Why do we still feel guilty when we fail, or when we believe we haven’t measured up to the standard? How do you struggle with grace?

Today as you spend time with God, thank him for the JOY that comes from accepting his amazing grace, and the peace it brings. Picture him singing over you - he does, you know.

We have been set free! Jesus, our beloved Savior, not only saved our very souls from eternal damnation, but came to give us abundant life. Do you believe it? Do you still feel bound? The truth is Jesus has already set you free, and now you must believe it to live a life of freedom. What’s holding you back? What lies are you still believing? Will you lay them down today?

One of the best ways to experience freedom is communing with God in worship. Let your heart experience peace, joy, and freedom as you worship your Lord and Savior.

Day 11 "You Are Joyful"

I’m so excited to begin our next attribute with you today. (It’s one of my favorites!) You are JOYFUL.

Let's talk about the root word of Joyful - Joy. How do you describe Joy?  Webster's Dictionary defines it as "The emotion evoked by well-being, success, or good fortune, by the prospect of possessing what one desires."  This definition is how most of the world sees joy - an emotional response to getting something we want.

I think there's more to it.  Pastor John Piper describes it this way, "Christian joy is a good feeling in the soul, produced by the Holy Spirit, as He causes us to see the beauty of Christ in the Word and in the world."  

If we think about Apostle Paul in chains as he serves time in prison, he was not getting anything good by worldly standards; and yet Paul encourages us to rejoice - to be continually filled with joy.  Paul had a Godly perspective as he focused on Jesus and not on his circumstance, and provides for us the perfect example how Joy in the Lord is actually our Strength.

I love the photo above. Do you live in an area where it snows. In Minnesota, it snows A LOT!! I can choose to stay inside and curse the snow, or I can go out in it and experience the beauty all around. I can let the snow hit me in the face and be annoyed by it, or release those feelings and simply find joy in surrendering to the cold flakes dissolving when they hit my warm face. We can find joy anywhere - just like Paul.

Do you need Strength today?  You may be going through something very difficult right now.  Will you allow God to fill your heart with joy as you Trust Him?  Selah.

You're doing fantastic!  How do you feel, now that you're a quarter of the way into your journey?  Each day as you take time to spend with God you express your love for Him and commitment for a deeper relationship.  You've opened your heart for Truth and Transformation from the One who knows you best and loves you most.  Beautiful

Before we move on to our next attribute tomorrow, what did you hear from God about your beauty in loveliness?   Make sure you've heard all He has to say.  Selah.

I encourage you to return to Day 1 as a way to examine your progress.  Recount the lies that have been exposed with the light of His Truth in just these first 10 days.  Write down your progress and praise God for all He’s done and all He’s going to do. Hallelujah!

Day 9 "You Are Lovely"

Lovely Strength

How are you doing this morning? Here in Minnesota, it was hard to get out of my warm cozy bed. How about you? Is your anticipation of spending time with God greater than your discomfort of leaving a warm bed?

The past two days we looked at the aspects of Majesty and Humility, and today the Lord showed me how Strength is a common denominator in both. We’re strong in the power we’ve been given by the Holy Spirit, and humility takes enormous strength to put others before ourselves, especially the ones we believe are undeserving.

Today is my father’s birthday, and though he’s passed away, I still reflect on his life and our relationship. I was my dad’s “little buddy.” He gave me the role of tomboy and the nickname Poncho Pete. Anything but lovely, feminine, or beautiful. I carried this lie from the enemy for most of my life, and through one of my first 40 Day Journey experiences, finally replaced the lie with God’s truth.

God showed me how I am strong as well as tender, and he led me to a wonderful role model in the Bible. Proverbs 31 paints a beautiful picture of what we always consider “the perfect Godly woman.” Though her character is outstanding, I’m sure she had flaws the writer left out. Despite her imperfections, we can learn so much from her. Though she is said to be “a radiant bride,” if you are not married, please consider that you are the Bride of Christ, and therefore this scripture still applies to you.

Day 8 "Yet You Wear Humility"

I Am Yours, Lord

In what appears to be in direct opposition to yesterday’s truth - the strength we find in the majesty of Jesus - today we’re looking at the strength in humility. Jesus was a master of both; and therefore, we too will find our lives are blessed with both majesty and humility.

First, what is humility? The book of Proverbs has much to say, so here are a few scriptures to ponder:
“Humility is the fear of the Lord; its wages are riches and honor and life.” Proverbs 22:4 (NIV)
”When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.” Proverbs 11:2 (NIV)
”Wisdom’s instruction is to fear the Lord, and humility comes before honor.” Proverbs 15:33 (NIV)
”Before a downfall the heart is haughty, but humility comes before honor.” Proverbs 18:12 (NIV)
Please journal your thoughts about the truth of humility and how it differs from what you currently believe. Selah.

Paul encourages the Philippians by providing a clear picture of how we are to be humble like King Jesus. In his letter, Paul recounts the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus to remind us the strength of humility Jesus bore for us and the reward that waits for us.

Hello Beauties!

How much do you love the word Majesty? It’s one of the most special words I know. There are certain words I use for God alone. Awesome, Holy, and Majestic are a few of them. He is so worthy of special words, don’t you think so too?

In pondering today’s truth, how can we be clothed in His Majesty? We’re not God, we’re only human and incapable of having anything to do with his Majesty. The answer is simple - when we believe in Christ, He comes to live in us. (Galatians 2:20) His attributes become our attributes. He shines through us like the radiant sun. The enemy would have you believe it’s not possible. “Who do you think you are?” he taunts. Are you listening to the enemy? Are you doubting the truth of God’s Word? Selah.

Today let’s get a grasp on the idea of God’s Majesty, and then start to believe we share this quality as well. I absolutely love the description of His Majesty found in Psalm 104. Read the passage below and rejoice in the beautiful majesty of our Lord.

“Praise the Lord, my soul. Lord my God, you are very great; you are clothed with splendor and majesty. The Lord wraps himself in light as with a garment; he stretches out the heavens like a tent and lays the beams of his upper chambers on their waters. He makes the clouds his chariot and rides on the wings of the wind. He makes winds his messengers, flames of fire his servants.” Psalm 104:1-4 NIV

Jesus deserves our supreme worship, so what better way to exalt him than with a full on choir singing Majesty?

Day 6 "You Are Lovely"

Today we move on to our next attribute and truth, you are lovely. What’s your initial reaction to this truth? How do you define and describe it? Do you feel lovely? Please write down your answers as you ponder them.

Let’s take a look at the word lovely and pray the Spirit will reveal truth in a personal way for you as you lean in to his whisper. The Oxford Language Dictionary states the word “Lovely” is both an adjective and noun. “exquisitely beautiful” is how it is described as an adjective and “a beautiful woman” as a noun. Some synonyms include, “attractive, appealing, sweet, charming, engaging.”

The Bible goes beyond the external and goes straight to the heart. Here is an in depth study of the original language when lovely is used in the Bible as sited by the International Standard Bible Encyclopedia:
luv'-li ('ahabh, 'ahebh; prosphiles): "Lovely" occurs only 4 times. In 2 Samuel 1:23 it is the translation of 'ahebh, "to be loved" ("Saul and Jonathan were lovely and pleasant (the King James Version margin "sweet") in their lives"), where it seems to mean "loving" or "lovable." Two other words are so translated in the Old Testament: machmadch, "desire" a "desirable thing" (Songs 5:16, "He is altogether lovely," that is, "lovable," "to be desired," literally, "all of him lovableness," or "desirableness"); `aghabhim "loves," or "charms" (Ezekiel 33:32, "Thou art unto them as a very lovely song," the King James Version margin "a song of loves," the Revised Version margin "a love-song"; in 33:31 the same word is translated "much love," the King James Version margin "They make loves or jests"); in Philippians 4:8 we have prosphiles, "very lovely," or "lovable," "whatsoever things are lovely."

I can’t help but notice the common denominator here, LOVE. Are you an agent of Christ’s love? Have you accepted the perfect love of Jesus? Do you love him with all your heart, soul, and mind? Do you extend love to others? Even if you don’t love perfectly, you are still lovely. Selah.

Jesus Christ is altogether lovely. Let’s spend time praising our loving King today.

I heard something this morning that stopped me in my tracks. “The enemy of my peace is my insistence on perfection.” Wow! Now that is truth, my friends.

What does peace have to do with beauty? Have you ever noticed when you stop to see something beautiful, for that quiet few seconds or minutes, you are at peace. Your focus is turned from the things of this world, and you are peaceful as you gaze upon the beauty of what captured your attention. It can be something in nature, an artist’s performance, a baby’s smile. What about the beauty of things we hear? A cardinal’s morning song, a choir singing your favorite hymn, a child’s laugh.

What does peace have to do with beauty? Selah.

I pray Jesus captures your attention today as you take time to let his beauty bring you peace.

Good Morning Beauties!

O the beauty of the Lord, Creator of the universe. I watched a few small birds playing amongst the snow covered trees this morning. The beauty of his creation is all around us. Think about the magnificence of planet Earth, let alone the entire Universe. Add to that the creatures of the air, land, and sea. Then, oh my goodness, is the human body and all of its marvelous systems that keep us alive and allow us to reproduce. Truly indescribable is the beauty of Creation and the Creator.

A scripture came to mind this morning and made me stop and ponder about how we are one with all of God’s creation. The scripture says if we don’t praise God, then the rocks surely will. (See scripture below) Take that in for a moment. We are connected with the literal rock formations of the Earth. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not about to worship anything other than my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I do believe, however, we are a beautiful part of God’s amazing creation. What are your thoughts as you ponder the grandeur of your part of creation? Can you see your own beauty in it? Selah.

To be loved above all things - can you imagine it? Above all sins of your past and your future. Sins of thought and deed. Everything! The Love of Jesus surpasses it all. Selah.

Let’s also look at this truth another way. You are loved above every good and perfect thing Jesus has created. His love for you is more! You are the apple of his eye, his favorite. Selah.

I truly believe it will take a lifetime to grasp the perfect love God has for each one of us. It’s a love like no other. We try to equate it with the love of a parent or a spouse, but our Earthly human love can’t compare to that of Jesus. No way!

Like Paul prayed for the Ephesians, this is my prayer for you today…
“I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3:16-19 NIV

Most of us enjoy the “love chapter” in 1 Corinthians, chapter 13. It’s probably the most used Biblical verse at weddings. I’ve always viewed it as God’s standard for me to love my husband and others. You too? Today he asked me to look at it a different way. I read it as a description of HIS love for ME. WOW! What a blessing!! Please take a moment to read the verse, in several translations, and then journal truth about the love of Jesus for YOU. Selah.

There’s a worship debate I’ve heard over the years which draws strong opinions from both sides. “Why do they just repeat the same words over and over and over again?” My humble opinion - just an opinion from my experience - is that singing Biblical truths several times allows us to meditate on God’s Word through song. Is it necessary for every song, every time we worship? No, but I do believe there’s a benefit to meditating in song. With this explanation, I’m excited to include a song today that has been important in my Christian faith. It’s easy to sing and easy to memorize so you can close your eyes and just get lost in worshipping Jesus and receiving the truth about his love for you.

Being a daughter of Christ means that you have a forever father in Heaven. Someone who is dependable and strong, someone who will protect you and provide for you, someone who will never leave you nor forsake you - even if you disappoint him time and time again. Being a daughter of Christ means that you have the greatest love one could ever provide. Fully, unconditionally, and forever. What does this mean for you? Are you walking out your life as a true princess of the Most High King? Selah.

Have you ever noticed God’s blessings command action? We are not blessed to consume it for ourselves. No, our faith in Christ opens the opportunity to become his ambassador to the world. Just like a princess here on Earth represents her royal family, we represent Christ, and that comes with responsibility. We stay close to Jesus and follow his ways - anything he asks. We can rest assured his plan for our lives isn’t good, or even great, it’s perfect; therefore, we can trust him wholeheartedly. We can place our faith in Jesus without reservation and do anything he asks.

Let’s take a look at what God’s Word says about being set apart from the evil things of the world and our relationship with him….

“Don’t become partners with those who reject God. How can you make a partnership out of right and wrong? That’s not partnership; that’s war. Is light best friends with dark? Does Christ go strolling with the Devil? Do trust and mistrust hold hands? Who would think of setting up pagan idols in God’s holy Temple? But that is exactly what we are, each of us a temple in whom God lives. God himself put it this way:

‘I’ll live in them, move into them;
    I’ll be their God and they’ll be my people.
So leave the corruption and compromise;
    leave it for good,” says God.
“Don’t link up with those who will pollute you.
    I want you all for myself.
I’ll be a Father to you;
    you’ll be sons and daughters to me.’

Happy New Year Beauties!

Welcome to Day 1 of your journey. Your bravery has brought you here, whether it was to grow closer to God, learn more of your true identity in Christ, or know more about the person of Jesus, you are a brave warrior. Let’s all move forward with our armor in place as we take our first step onto the battlefield.

What are your rituals or routines on the first day of the new year? How long have you held them dear, and are you willing to make any changes to them?

For the past 20 years or so, I meet early in the morning with God to ask him what he wants me to know for the upcoming year. Sometimes he leads me to a scripture in the Bible as a blessing for me. At other times, he leads me to a scripture to bless others.

This morning before I could open my Bible, before I turned on the light, he spoke to my heart and said, “listen.” I quieted my mind as I sat down at my desk in front of my window and listened. There he was! I heard him singing a new song from within the barren trees lining the path a few yards from my home. It was the most beautiful sound of life coming from what looks like death. Light had broke through the darkness. Moments later, I heard the sweet words of this scripture in my mind, and I knew it was God’s Word for the year.

“He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him.” Psalm 40:3 NIV

This story of God’s awesome beauty is a wonderful way to start our journey. Beauty can mean many different things to many people. What does it mean to you? What do you believe when you hear the truth, “You are beautiful”? Try to capture everything coming to your mind. If you’re having a hard time believing it, what do you believe instead? God wants to uncover the lies from the enemy so he can bring you truth. Are you willing to seek him, to listen, and to believe what he says? Selah.

There is hope, healing, light, and life found in Jesus. Allow him to put a new song in your mouth today; one you will declare unto the world so all people will fear and put their trust in God.

The Journey Begins

You’ve made it! You’ve waited patiently, and the day has come to begin a journey with God like nothing you’ve done before. The experience is distinctive in that the 40 Days are derived from the 40 lyrics of a song, a song of God’s Truth, His Word, and The Gospel. And there could be no better time to begin your transformation than the beginning of a new year. 2023 will be a year to look back and remember how Jesus changed your life.

I believe this 40 Day Journey experience is a “narrow gate” which leads to the Truth of God few people find as written in Matthew 7:13-14. “Enter through the narrow gate. How can we possibly navigate through this world without knowing who we really are? Our true identity in Christ? Without knowing the Truth, the enemy will continue to fill our minds with lies. Our belief in these lies only leads to our destruction. God desperately wants you to know the Truth about who you are and who He created you to be which will lead to a life of love, joy, peace, and purpose. A life of fulfillment. A life He died to give you.

This journey is also unique to each participant, just as you are unique. We will travel together and yet have individual experiences with God. The journey will provide different things for different people. One thing is for sure; if you commit to spending 40 consecutive days with God, you will be changed. 40 Days is significant in the Bible - it brings testing, trial, temptation, and transformation. Are you all in ?

The scripture God gave me while impressing on my heart to begin this women’s journal and ministry is John 10:10, “The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows].” (NIV)

Have you ever noticed, that in any great adventure story, there is a fight between good and evil, the “good guy” and the “bad guy”? Beauties, the battle is real! The battle raging in the spiritual realm is very real. We fight it everyday whether we’re aware of it or not. In this journey, you will be on the offensive attack against the enemy, taking back ground he has stolen from you. It’s a fight. Are you ready?

Though you are waging war, you must not fear, but instead rise up in confidence. God is right by your side. You can trust Him. In the Bible, He promises, “But the Lord is faithful; He will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one.” Thessalonians 3:3 New Living Translation. God has so much for you, far exceeding any expectation you have, so turn your fear into faith.

As you can see, this journey is significant, and with anything of great importance, we must approach it with meaningful intentionality. We must carefully prepare for our journey. God will do His part, and we must be faithful to do ours too.

What are your expectations for your journey experience? What exactly do you need God to do? What are you willing to do? Grab your journal and find a place you will return to often. Write down your expectations and what you’re willing to commit to in order to help meet your expectations. Include your prayer of what you need from God. Selah.

In this battle, there will be many road blocks thrown in your way. Overcoming obstacles begins with knowing what they are, then creating a plan of action to defeat them. A common roadblock is time. Write down any obstacles you anticipate being a problem, and then create an action plan to ensure they don’t interfere with your journey. The enemy will try everything in his power to stop you from silencing his lies on your journey, so you have to be prepared. Selah.

The last thing, but vital to the success of your journey is to find your motivation. Why are you taking this journey? When the enemy is pressing in and making it difficult for you to keep going, how will you continue to put on your armor and keep fighting? When you don’t see the results you were expecting by Day 20, what will keep you on the journey? Please write down your “WHY” and refer to it often. Selah.

Jesus, we know you have the power to help us identify the lies of the enemy and to replace them with your truth so we can walk in freedom. Jesus, we pray for open and willing hearts and minds that will be ready for anything you reveal to us. We look forward to the transformation you have prepared for us, and are excited as we trust in you. Jesus, we pray you help us stay the course when it gets difficult. We understand this journey is a battle, so we pray for protection and that you remind us to put on the full armor of God found in Ephesians 6 each time we sit down to journal. Good Morning Beauties!

What a beautiful day to reflect on our 40 Day Journeys - with the tremendous blessing of Christmas still fresh on our minds and in our hearts. I pray your day to celebrate the coming of our Savior King was glorious.

In your journal is a couple of pages for you to write as you reflect on your entire journey as well as a space for your prayer as you move forward. You may want to look back at the attributes of Beautiful, Lovely, Joyful, Royalty, Righteous, Redeemed, Purity, and Child of God and write down where God spoke to your heart about something personal. Is this where you identified the lie of the enemy and replaced it with His Truth? Where do you see the most growth? Do you feel closer in relationship to God? What are the top three encouragements from your time spent with God? Selah.

Where has He brought Freedom to your life? Here’s my question….so what? What was it all for? I believe the Bible explains it best in Galatians 5:13. “You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.” New International Version.

Jesus is HOPE and he brings hope to us and through us to others. In my lifetime, I’ve never seen people in such need of hope. Just like Jesus, we are not here on planet Earth for our own indulgences, we are here to serve others in His Name with the power of His Love. It’s as simple and complex as that. If we are weighted down by lies of the enemy, we are unable to live in the freedom we need to effectively care for others. They must see the hope we have in Jesus, otherwise they’ll just see our futile works.

Thank you for sharing this journey with me. It has been a pleasure and honor to walk with you. I pray one of the first “serving others” steps you take is to share your journey experience with women in your life. I’ve learned that even the most confident and “well put together” women believe lies they need to replace with Truth.

Let’s pray together - Dear Heavenly Father, we thank you for who You are. The Loving and Kind Father who loves us and calls us His own. We thank you Lord for this journey with You where You have lovingly taught us so much about You and ourselves. Be with each of us now as we take these truths and go make a difference in the world. It’s time to Celebrate!!! There’s so much to be grateful for today….the Birth of Jesus and Day 40!!!

Let’s take our excitement to the Lord in prayer…Dear Holy Father, thank you for Your Love that provided us a Savior who left His place in Heaven to come down and rescue us and provide eternal life. Thank you also for providing the discipline, motivation, security and love throughout our 40 Day Journey together. You have spoken to our hearts and told us Truth. You have exposed the lies of the enemy and replaced them with your revelations of Truth. We thank you and celebrate you today, in Jesus Name, Amen.

Tomorrow on the Day of Reflection you will look back at your entire journey experience and journal about it as a whole. Today, let’s look at the lyric, “And you are Beautiful.” What does this word now mean to you? How has your definition of it changed over the past 40 days? What do you believe today about your beauty you did not on Day 1? What are the lies you no longer believe and the Truths that have taken their place? Selah.

Good Morning Beauties!

Happy Christmas Eve Day to you all. I think this day for me has more meaning that Christmas Day. Tonight is when we celebrate Jesus’ arrival. The Light that took away the darkness has come. It brings back memories of Midnight Mass with a choir of Angels singing from the balcony behind me. It was absolutely beautiful.

For some of you, this may not be a day of warm memories, and to that I say, “I’m so sorry.” Ask the Holy Spirit to help you process those wounds and allow him to heal your heart. Let the light of Jesus illuminate those dark, hurtful places and leave only his perfect love. Will you do it?

For all of us, today we can celebrate the true gift of Jesus. I’ve made a list of the many benefits of this beautiful gift in my life:
He protects, provides, loves, encourages, delights in me, will never leave me, created the unique me.
I am cherished, adored, treasured, beloved.

My list is just the highlights, of course, because the benefits of knowing Jesus are endless. What’s on your list? What does having the true light of the world in your life bring? Selah.

There are so many deeply meaningful songs to celebrate Jesus’ birth, and I’ve shared a couple with you here. First is “O Holy Night.” It brings a special reverence to the significance of Jesus coming to the world as a baby so that one day he could die for our sins - to become our Savior. Please review the words, let them sink in, and then watch my favorite rendition of this beautiful song.

Second is my all time, non-traditional Christmas song. The joy expressed in the song perfectly describes the excitement I feel on Christmas Eve. I’m in awe and wonder at how much God loves me to send his son, to save me and reconcile me back to my Abba Father. I am a Child of God - The greatest gift I could ever receive!

Day 38 "Treasured By Our Lord"

Hello Beauties!

Oh my goodness! There’s so much to say today, but there’s simply not the space here for a full on Bible study. I trust you will do your own digging in God’s Word from the brief encouragement on today’s blog entry.

As I’ve openly shared at several women’s retreats, today’s truth was life changing for me on my very first 40 Day Journey several years ago. On Day 1 God revealed my deepest wound - not feeling valued. That was my core issue that remained even though I was a Holy Spirit filled sold out follower of Christ. I didn’t even know it was there.

On Day 38, Jesus brought me to this passage and changed my name to Segullah, God’s Treasured Possession.

“For you are a holy people, who belong to the Lord your God. Of all the people on earth, the Lord your God has chosen you to be his own special treasure. The Lord did not set his affection on you and choose you because you were more numerous than other peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples. But it was because the Lord loved you and kept the oath he swore to your ancestors that he brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the land of slavery, from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt. Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.” Deuteronomy 7:6-9 New Living Translation

For Biblical context, Moses shared with the Israelites why God chose them as His treasured people. A big part was their obedience to his commands and remaining holy. In fact the heading of chapter 7 is called “The Privilege of Holiness.” God asked the Israelites to remain set apart from other cultures - they were special to God and He did not want them defiled.

Please read all of Chapter 7 for more details and further study. This passage in Deuteronomy wasn’t the first time God had made this statement - please read Exodus 19 for more history of when Moses delivered the message to the Israelites after God saved them from Pharaoh.

So, how does this scripture spoken by God to the Israelites relate to us today? Let’s look at the main scripture again. “For you are a holy people, who belong to the Lord your God. Of all the people on earth, the Lord your God has chosen you to be his own special treasure.” Read it a few times slowly. Ask the Holy Spirit to stir your heart to the revelation he wants you to know. He calls us “holy” - do you believe you are holy in the eyes of God? He says you belong to him. Do you know that he accepts you? He says in essence, “take a look around - of ALL the people on Earth, I chose YOU.” Do you believe it? Does that sound possible? Are you walking in this powerful truth? And lastly, the part that changed me - he calls you his own special treasure. Is there anything he’s wanting you to know about that part of his declaration? Selah.

There’s much to ponder, and we’re not quite finished. Be completely honest with yourself and answer these questions - Do I compare myself to others? Do I catch myself feeling insecure in certain situations? Am I always seeking others’ approval? Do I still struggle with perfectionism? If the answer to any of these questions is “yes,” you may need to pray you will believe the truth about how God loves you and says you are a special treasure. Selah.

There’s even more to ponder - our part of this equation is obedience to God’s commands. I’m referring to the summation of all the law in the three commands Jesus gave us: Love God, Love Others, and The Great Commission - making disciples of all nations.

The blessing of being God’s chosen treasured possession can’t stop there. We must take this blessing, believe it, and walk it out in our lives with others. What does this look like? I invite you to look at your answers to the previous questions. On reflection, are you self-focused or others-focused? Beauties, if we are to live holy lives as God’s treasures, we have to set our minds on Jesus and how he wants to use us for others.

Pride is ugly and a tool of the enemy. He is a master of deception. Have you been deceived? A simple definition of pride is being self-focused. If we are constantly wondering what others think of us, how we look to others, (literally and figuratively), if we are easily offended, and generally fixated on our feelings, there’s a pride issue. Now is the time to bring this sin before God and ask for purification. Selah.

Beauties, I could have stopped at the “feel good” part of today’s lyric about how you are God’s treasure, but there’s always more growth he wants for you. Please take time to do the hard work in this area. It can be life changing for you as well.

Transformation starts by focusing on Jesus. Let’s lift up our voices and praise our coming King, the greatest treasure of our hearts.

Day 37 "Beloved And So Adored"

Daddy’s Girl

Hello Beauties!

It’s a beautiful Winter’s day with a blanket of white covering the Earth. Oh He is a most magnificent Creator, isn’t He? Makes me feel proud to be His daughter. That’s my Abba Father - my Daddy!

With the title of “Child of The Most High God”, we immediately see God as our parent, our Abba Father. Why does the Bible describe us in this way verses God’s creation alone? The answer is simple…His great love for us. It wasn’t enough for Him to be our Creator, He wanted a more intimate relationship with us.

The heart of God is that of a loving Father. The Holy Trinity is made up of God The Father, Jesus The Son, and The Holy Spirit. The Bible is jam packed with scriptures describing The Father’s love for us. One of my favorites is found in 1 John 3:1, (we read it as part of yesterday’s blog,) “Consider the kind of extravagant love the Father has lavished on us—He calls us children of God! It’s true; we are His beloved children.” The Voice Translation. How incredibly beautiful is this Truth?!

What is your favorite verse that speaks of how God loves you? If you don’t already have one, I recommend you find one that speaks directly to your heart. How deep is the hole in your heart that only His love can fill? Selah.
