Day 2 "Daughter Of The King"
Choose To Believe
Good Morning Beauties!
The second truth of our journey can be a sensitive one. It’s one that dives deep. When reading “daughter of the King,” what’s the first thing that comes to mind? It’s easy to immediately think of our Earthy fathers and our relationship with them. The next thought is our relationship to our Heavenly Father. Our minds make the comparison in a split second without our permission, it happens that fast. Let’s slow those thoughts down and allow the Spirit to reveal truth to you about both relationships.
How would you describe your relationship with your Earthy father? Would you say “loving, kind, encouraging, strong, confident”? Does “hurtful, absent, neglectful, abusive, discouraging” sound more accurate? Is your relationship somewhere in between? Write down a description of your dad and relationship with him. Selah.
Psychology tells us that our identity and self esteem is developed mostly by the relationship with our dads while we’re young girls. As you can see, this relationship is foundational in how we initially see and value ourselves. What were the messages received from your father? Selah.
What does God say about it? “Listen, daughter, and pay careful attention: Forget your people and your father’s house.” Psalm 45:10 (NIV) No matter what type of earthly father and life you had with him, God says to forget it. He’s not saying to abandon your father, but to forget whatever may be holding you back from devoting your entire heart and soul to Him - your Abba Father. Whether you idolize your father and need to take him off your throne, or are still living with bitterness to a harmful one, God wants priority in your life.
Our God is gracious and kind and will not force you. You must choose to put on your crown and take your rightful place as His daughter. What will you choose? Selah.
